The Beagle with his intelligent, pleading expression makes a great family pet as he is loveable, laughable and gentle.

Description
A short stocky dog with short hair and long floppy ears.

Size
Beagles weigh between 20 - 25 pounds and stand 13-16 inches tall

Color
Comes in your typical hound colors including black & tan, tricolor, red & white, lemon & white and orange & white.

Origin
This scent hound originated in England and is thought to be a cross between the Harrier and other English hounds.

Temperament
Sweet and loveable, this breed is happy, sociable and smart. Typically has a very calm demeaner but can be strong willed and may not be good with cats or other non canine pets unless socialized from an early age.

Training
They can have a mind of their own so patient persistant training is recommended.

Living Conditions
Best if you have a small yard for these dogs - they can do OK indoors but are quite active and will need outdoor activities too.
