The Italian Greyhound

The Italian Greyhound is an easy to get along with dog that makes a great companion dog for a quite household.

Description
This sleek, elegant dog has a regal look with short hair and a long thin muzzle.

Size
The Italian Greyhound weighs between 6 and 10 pounds and stands 12 to 15 inches tall.

Color
Should be solid or solid with white markings. Colors include cream, gray, slate gray, fawn, red, blue or black.

Origin
This ancient breed was introduced to Europe by the Phoenicians and developed by the Romans.

Temperament
Gentle and submissive but playful and affectionate to their owners. They can be high strung but usually get along with other animals.

Training
Can be difficult to house train, they are smart and inquisitive and are easy to obedience train if you are consistent.

Living Conditions
They will do fine without a yard as they are active indoors. Sensitive to the cold. Be careful if you plan to keep them in a fenced yard as they can climb wire fences.
