The Lhasa Apso

The Lhasa Apso was once used as a guard dog in Tibetan temples but now makes a loveing and lively companion pet.

Description
This breed is very furry, abudant hair on the face area sometimes needs to be tied up in a barette.

Size
The Lhasa Apso weighs 13 - 15 pounds and is between 10 and 11 inches tall.

Color
Comes in many colors - gold, honey, cream, white & black, browns and smoke.

Origin
Originating from Tibet, this breed was considered sacred and given as a gift to visiting diplomats by the Dalai Lama.

Temperament
This dog is smart and lively, a hardy dog that can be suspicious of strangers. May be noisy and cannot tolerate rough handling by children but are devoted to their owners.

Training
Can be willful and must be trained firmly.

Living Conditions
Good apartment dog - very active indoors.
