The Pekingese

The Pekingese are an old breed and can be lively and affectionate. They are quite fond of their owners but can have a mind of their own so you must show them that you are the boss!

Description
These short little dogs have long fur and a flat, wrinkled muzzle. Wide head and long ears.

Size
The Pekingese weighs between 8 and 10 pounds and is about 6 - 9 inches tall.

Color
Tan colored with dark markings on the face.

Origin
These dogs hail from China where they were considered to be semi divine.

Temperament
Courageous, sensitive and independent the Pekingese are affectionate with their owners but can be obstinate and strong willed.

Training
This breed can be difficult to house break.

Living Conditions
A relatively inactive breed, they will do fine in an apartment.
