The Shih Tzu

The Shih Tzu is a lively happy little dog that makes a good companion for a family with older children and other pets.

Description
This dog, sometimes called the little lion, has long hair and a round head with mustache and beard. Large wide set eyes, pendant ears, double coat, plumed tail that curls over the back.

Size
The Shih Tzu weighs in at 9 - 16 pounds and stand up to 11 inches tall.

Color
This dog can come in any color.

Origin
Originating from China, the first pair was brought to Europe in 1930.

Temperament
Spunky, happy and hardy, this is a lively dog with a lot of character. They make friends easily but can be stubborn and snappish with kids. Gets along with most other pets.

Training
May be difficult to house break, but they are intelligent and clever.

Living Conditions
Active indoors and can be good apartment dogs. Sensitive to the heat so take care to cool them off on hot days.
