The Toy Poodle

The Toy Poodle makes a great pet and is one of the smartest of all the dog breeds. He'll get along with other pets and older children and will certainly keep you amused.

Description
This dog is quite easily recognized when cut in the standard poodle clip, but can also look great with his curly haired coat groomed loosely. He has long flat ears, carries his tail straight up and has a springy gait.

The Toy Poodle stands 10 inches tall and weighs 6 - 9 pounds.

Color
All solid colors are allowed for this distinctive breed.

Origin
Typically attributed to France, it's exact origins are a bit controversial with potential origins being France, Germany and Denmark.

Temperament
One of the most intelligent breeds, this dog is sensitive, happy, lively and clever. Some bloodlines can be high strung. Early socialization is recommended.

Training
Very intelligent and learns fast. Highly trainable.

Living Conditions
Active indoors will do well without a yard.
